Missing my family
Yeah, so I’m lousy at this blogging gig. Is anyone out there surprised that I haven’t updated this in weeks?
Tiffany and Isaac get back from OKC this evening - I can’t wait for them to be home. Everyone gives me the wink-wink, nudge-nudge when they hear that the wife and kid are gone for a week, but honestly, the whole bachelor thing lasted about one day, then I missed my family. The first thing I missed? Changing diapers. Yes men, you too will one day actually miss changing diapers. At least if they’re cloth - they don’t stink as much as disposables.
Things I did while my wife wasn’t looking: made banana pudding (sort of - I wouldn’t serve it to anyone else), stayed late at work (it makes up for going in late, sort of), gave blood (two hours of time after work that I’d rather be playing with my son, if he’s not five states away), and best of all, blew all of Sunday at the movies.
My Sunday past:
8:00 leave for church
9:45 teach Sunday School (only one kid - I’m SO glad I didn’t have to wrangle eight by my lonesomes)
11:00 worship service
12:15 take two photos for church directory
12:30 split for the theatre
1:30 watch Cars - excellent flick, Pixar’s done it again, and I must admit I caught nearly all the NASCAR references
4:05 watch Da Vinci Code - an ok movie, decent mystery/thriller, lousy content (unless you completely suspend all logical thought)
6:45 dinner at the Carlyle restaurant: best. onion. soup. ever. with little chunks of steak and not too much salt. I am very impressed, and will be very poor if I eat there too often. Excellent service, even for all of us who were there (underdressed) in t-shirts and shorts. Next time, put on some pants and a nice shirt. I plan to write a letter of praise to the manager when I get a chance. It was that good.
7:45 watch X-Men 3 - good movie if you like comic book movies (I do, but Tiffany doesn’t)
10:00 head home to sleep. alone. again. I don’t sleep well when Tiffany’s not around.
back to the grindstone…
